Tom Stoppard, Dirk gives what he considered perhaps his
most complete performance as Hermann Hermann, a bourgeois
Russian émigré, whose personality gradually
fragments. FassbinderÁs final cut, however, induced in
Dirk feelings all too appropriate to the title.
