Apart from readings of his own books for audiocassette (see Writer), Dirk also recorded a fund-raising EP, ‘Dirk Bogarde reads “Coventry Verse”’ (Zella Records ZEL EPS 288, 1980). The last of the eight tracks was his own ‘Steel Cathedrals’, in which he substituted ‘Coventry’ for the original ‘Shrewsbury’.

His narration of Tom Stoppard’s libretto for the Glyndebourne Festival Opera’s concert staging of Franz Lehár’s ‘Die Lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow)’, conduced by Franz Welser-Möst, is on a double-CD (EMI 5 55152 2, 1994).                  << Back to the LPs
